Nofer Institute of Occupational Medicine (NIOM) in Lodz is a scientific and research center that deals with issues related to public health, environmental health and to all the fields of study connected with broadly understood occupational medicine.

The Institute cooperates with institutions of a similar profile, including many international organisations: The International Labour Organisation (ILO), the International Commission on Occupational Health and the World Health Organisation.
Health and Work Psychology Department in NIOM conduct studies on factor affecting mental health and occupational and family functioning of workers. We have over 50 years of tradition in research on stress and health, workability, psychosocial risks at work, bullying & harassment, cognitive performance at work. Our experts are well recognized trainers and consultants.
NIOM has participated in many research and application programmes on well-being and health e.g. “EFFECT – Enhancing the effectiveness of work – life balance initiatives use” (Polish-Norwegian Research Programme), “WE CAN – Cyberbullying Action Network for Parents”, “MHP Hands – Mental Health Promotion Handbook”, “EWA – European Workplace and Alcohol” (http://www.mentalhealthpromotion.net), “Person- organization fit and mental and somatic health of workers”, “Development of multimodal prevention programs- prevention of psychosocial risks” and many others.

Dorota Merecz-Kot, psychologist, counsellor, EMDR practitioner, trainer of psychoeducation and researcher. Author of over 120 scientific papers and chapters in books. She was a leader or principal investigator in many national and international interdisciplinary research projects. Her main scientific interests are: factors affecting mental health status, effects of stress on human functioning and health; trauma related changes in human performance and health, bullying/harassment/ aggression at work, promotion of well-being and quality of life, education for health.

Aleksandra Andysz MA, psychologist, her main field of expertise is posttraumatic growth in the course of chronic diseases, research on factors affecting successful return to work after long-lasting inability to work related with health condition (breast cancer, pneumoconiosis) and stress effect on health.

Małgorzata Waszkowska MD, specialist in clinical psychology and transportation psychology. Head of Psychological Diagnostics Unit. Author and coauthor of publications on the subject on: age-related deterioration of cognitive and psycho-motor functions, occupational stress and stress management, psychological effects of exposition on chemical and physical hazards.
